Featuring hundreds of offerings by local nonprofits and individual teaching artists, each EdExploreSRQ “exploration” is reviewed and approved by school district staff to ensure connections to educational standards.
In this unique partnership, the Sarasota County School District, Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County, Science and Environment Council of Southwest Florida, Community Foundation of Sarasota County, Education Foundation of Sarasota County and The Patterson Foundation commit to sustain and grow EdExploreSRQ for the benefit of all Sarasota County students.
|Build a Circus Exploration
The Community Foundation has committed $1,000,000 over ten years for explorations - particularly for students in lower-income communities. Additionally, the Community Foundation and The Patterson Foundation created an EdExploreSRQ Endowment Fund to increase awareness and funding. The Patterson Foundation has designated up to $3 million in matching funds to go into the Explorations endowment fund, matching dollar for dollar the Community Foundation's $1,000,000 investment as well as providing a 2:1 match for all donations for existing and future explorations.
How Teachers Connect
The Community Foundation has set up a rolling online application process that enables teachers to apply for exploration funding throughout the year. This “just in time” feature allows teachers to maximize the learning connections between an exploration and student lessons. Each Sarasota County school is eligible to receive up to $5,000 to help fund explorations per semester.
HOW TO APPLY: The Community Foundation is pleased to announce an improved online application. Even if you have applied to us in the past, you will need to create a new account and apply in the new system. Apply now.
