With assets of more than $520 million managed across 1,570+ funds, the Community Foundation of Sarasota County is trusted to invest charitable gifts throughout the region we serve in a variety of areas.
We appreciate support to our community-wide initiatives featured in blue below that demonstrate our Community Impact Philosophy.
Additionally, other community funds that are accepting contributions are shared below as examples of the breadth of philanthropic passions across our community.
Donors can make contributions to their funds for future grants at any time. Supporters can give to a specific fund by name. If you do not find the desired fund through the selections below, please name a fund.
Suncoast Disaster Recovery Fund
To provide recovery support to the Suncoast Region in response to a natural disaster. The fund will allow investments in long-term, long-range programs to sustain our agencies after initial emergency relief is provided.
The Community Foundation of Sarasota County Inc. Unrestricted Fund
To be used as determined at the sole discretion of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County. Please note this is NOT for the Season of Sharing campaign.
The Season of Sharing County in Greatest Need
To provide targeted financial assistance for necessities like rent, utilities, car repairs or other emergency expenses to individuals on the brink of homelessness. This fund supports the greatest need within Sarasota, Manatee, DeSoto and Charlotte counties.
The Season of Sharing Diane McFarlin Endowment Fund
To support the Season of Sharing program initiative to provide funds for its unrestricted use to maintain the Season of Sharing program as an effective resource to those in need in our community.
The Season of Sharing Fund for Charlotte County
To provide targeted financial assistance for necessities like rent, utilities, car repairs or other emergency expenses to individuals on the brink of homelessness. This fund supports residents of Charlotte County.
The Season of Sharing Fund for Desoto County
To provide targeted financial assistance for necessities like rent, utilities, car repairs or other emergency expenses to individuals on the brink of homelessness. This fund supports residents of DeSoto County.
The Season of Sharing Fund for Manatee County
To provide targeted financial assistance for necessities like rent, utilities, car repairs or other emergency expenses to individuals on the brink of homelessness. This fund supports residents of Manatee County.
The Season of Sharing Fund for Sarasota County
To provide targeted financial assistance for necessities like rent, utilities, car repairs or other emergency expenses to individuals on the brink of homelessness. This fund supports residents of Sarasota County.
2Gen Fund
To support the entire family by creating opportunities that address the needs of vulnerable parents and their children together. Programs are modeled on a two-generation approach adopted from Ascend at The Aspen Institute.
A. Lamar Matthews Jr. Memorial Fund
Lamar was a widely-respected litigator. He was loved and renowned for his music (a trombone player, tenor vocalist, and ardent listener), sense of humor, and as a vibrant contributor to civic, community, and family life. This fund is to benefit and support underrepresented minorities in law.
AAUW Sarasota Branch Scholarship Fund
To provide scholarships on behalf of the AAUW/Sarasota Branch to residents of Sarasota County to attend college or university, with a preference to women returning to finish their education in order to re-enter the workplace.
Administrative Endowment Fund
To support and benefit the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, Inc. (CFSC) to provide ongoing support to CFSC's operating budget through the annual spending policy on investments.
Albert Ales III and Zachary Morris Scholarship Fund
To provide one traditional, merit-based scholarship annually to an eligible Southeast High School (Bradenton, FL) IB program graduate attending a four-year college or university.
Another Day for Gray Foundation Fund
To support and benefit organizations and/or programs working with families affected by fatal genetic disorders. Support could include, but is not limited to research, raising awareness and improving standards of care and treatments.
Any Given Child Fund
For the Any Given Child Initiative of the School Board of Sarasota County supporting programs, initiatives or organizations that provide support to and/or benefit children, the arts and/or education in Sarasota County.
Athena Progressive Giving Circle Fund
A community of women funding programs/initiatives in Manatee and Sarasota counties, that meaningfully improve the lives of women and girls in our community.
Booker High School at Promise College Expense Fund
For the support and benefit Booker High School to establish and maintain a program that assists underrepresented students with their college preparatory and college related expenses. The program may focus primarily on students who are currently attending Booker HS and may include alumnae of BHS.
Campaign for Grade-Level Reading Fund
To support the Campaign for Grade Level Reading efforts to ensure that all children receive the support necessary to read proficiently by third grade. The geographic focus is our four county region of Sarasota, Manatee, DeSoto and Charlotte counties.
Childrens Literacy Endowment Fund
For the support and benefit of the Imagination Library and other early learning programs as designated by the Library Foundation of Sarasota County.
Claudia Whitehurst Health Fund
Supporting the American Cancer Society, Florida Division for the exclusive purpose of funding ovarian cancer research and the Mendrick Hope Lodge; the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, New York, for medical research related to ovarian cancer; and Tidewell Hospice for general support.

Environmental Discovery Awards Fund
This fund supports and benefits students who participate in the Cross College Alliance Environmental Discovery Awards Program by providing paid field experience summer internships.
Ethan Isaacs Memorial Fund
To provide boat safety, education, and training to prevent future boating tragedies.
Father Connie Dougherty Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established to memorialize a local Catholic priest, this fund provides scholarships for youth of both public and private Sarasota County schools. Selection is based on a student's academic performance, financial need and concern for others.
General Scholarship Fund
To provide scholarships for students with financial need residing in Sarasota County attending public or private schools in Sarasota County.
HBCU National Center Foundation
The HBCU National Center Foundation supports and benefits Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to provide scholarships to students who wish to participate in experiential education programs, such as internships as well as living and learning at the HBCU National Center.
James Joseph Memorial Fund

Lauren O Hara Memorial Fund
Supporting Pediatric Leukemia research, patient support, and family support.
Masala Giving Circle
To promote economic and personal empowerment through financial support for programs and initiatives that benefit African-American communities in Sarasota and Manatee counties.
Peggy J. Swain Memorial Fund
To support and benefit nonprofit organizations who provide services and programs which support caretakers of seniors and women and children who are experiencing disadvantaged circumstances.
Pine View Gives Back Fund
To support and benefit Pine View High School, Sarasota, Florida, to promote career education and academic enhancement.
Sarasota County Bar Association Richard R. Garland Endowed Diversity Scholarship
To provide an internship & scholarship for law students of under-represented minority backgrounds to obtain summer placement in law firms and/or governmental agencies in Sarasota County, and to establish programs, which the SCBA Diversity Committee determines has great potential to raise awareness.
Sarasota County Yacht Club Endowed Scholarship Fund
To provide scholarships for qualified individuals who are employees of the Sarasota Yacht Club, and if funds are available then a secondary preference shall be given to the employees' children, to pursue academic and/or vocational training.
Shalom Family Medical Center Matching Gift Fund
This Fund will match individual gifts of $500.00 or more to Shalom Family Medical Center, Santiago Texacuangos, El Salvador, Central America (a project of Harvesting In Spanish).

YES - Youth Expanded Studies Fund
For the financial support and benefit of our community's young residents to provide them with funding to attend a distinct educational program, opportunity or event beyond the typical school setting.
