The Community Foundation of Sarasota County provided an emergency grant of $25,000 from its Season of Sharing Fund to All Faiths Food Bank following a brief refrigeration malfunction. The funds were provided to replenish meat and other frozen food products that had been stored at the Food Bank for distribution to its partner agencies.

The effort to create a foundation to support the local needs of Longboat Key and its residents is complete. The Longboat Key Foundation now exists “for the support and benefit of exclusively charitable purposes in and for the benefit of Longboat Key, Florida and its residents,” according to the fund agreement entered into with the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, which will provide administrative services and the benefit of its philanthropic experience and resources to the new Foundation.

Booker High School will host an Etiquette Fine Dining Event to conclude its 2013 Summer Athletic Academic Enrichment and Life Skills Program at 2 p.m. on July 18 at Michael’s on East (1212 East Avenue S., Sarasota). The event will highlight the program’s focus on sportsmanship, nutrition, healthy eating, and fine dining etiquette.

The Community Foundation of Sarasota County named Patrick Dorsey and Austin Nadwodny to its Board of Directors. Dorsey has served as the publisher of the Herald-Tribune Media Group for nearly a year; previously, he served as the president and publisher of the Tallahassee Democrat. Nadwodny, a 10th grader at Sarasota Military Academy, is a graduate of the Community Youth Development (CYD) STAR leadership program, of which CFSC was instrumental in providing start-up funding and continues to support.
