WELLEN PARK The Venice Symphony is paying tribute to the nation's bravery during the outdoor event "America's Heroes Patriotic Pops Concert," followed by a fireworks display at 7:30 p.m. May 25 at CoolToday Park.

The Community Foundation of Sarasota County is this year's presenting sponsor and has been since the first "Patriotic Pops" concert in 2019.

"Our Community Foundation is committed to opportunities of unity that allow us to come together to celebrate our community and its history," said Roxie Jerde, president/CEO of Community Foundation of Sarasota County in a news release. "These events are so important, as they shine a bright light on the heroism that has safeguarded the very best attributes of our community and nation."

This year's concert celebrates patriotism and helps the community to kick off Memorial Day weekend. Music director Troy Quinn will lead The Venice Symphony in a concert of American music, including a salute to the armed forces.

The Liberty Voices, an eight-part a cappella group, will perform Americana, folk and patriotic songs with the symphony.

"We are honoring those currently serving in the military and remembering those who have served in the armed forces with a special video tribute as well as playing music that commemorates those who have lost their lives during their service," Quinn said in the news release. "It is also a musical celebration of our country and those who fight for our freedom every day."

Christine Kasten, president/CEO of The Venice Symphony added in the news release, "We see 'Patriotic Pops' as a triumphant conclusion to our 50th anniversary season and look forward to welcoming our patrons to an exciting musical line-up in 2024-25."
