Fund Description

On May 24th 2019, Zack and Albert traveled to Peru to celebrate their graduation. They had both worked part time jobs and saved up their money to pay for the adventure. They were among the best of the class of 2019 - young men with high hopes, big dreams and unlimited potential. Albert was a mechanical engineering prodigy headed to the University of Central Florida as a Bright Futures Scholar and Zack had earned a Navy ROTC scholarship to Yale University where he planned to study economics and hoped to become a doctor one day. But their lives were cut tragically short when they were struck and killed by a reckless bus driver in the hills outside of Cusco, Peru.

The community came together in the wake of the tragedy and, through donations, created this scholarship endowment in their memory.

It is a merit-based scholarship in the boys’ honor at their alma mater, Southeast High School in Bradenton, Florida. It will be awarded to those who exemplify the values of these two young men: resiliency, kindness, school involvement, and a willingness to serve others and be a force for good in the world. The families will be forever grateful to all who have helped them to remember their precious sons in this way.
