Laurie Scott

Laurie Scott is a Philanthropic Advisor at the Community Foundation of Sarasota County. She works with individual donors to help them achieve their philanthropic goals through social impact investments in the community.
Laurie earned her bachelor's and master’s degrees at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and has worked as a development professional for more than 30 years in the United States, Japan, and New Zealand. She has held development director roles at the University of South Florida, The Baker Institute for Public Policy at Rice University, the Medical University of South Carolina, and University of Auckland. She also worked for the largest not-for-profit organization in New Zealand advocating for individuals with intellectual disabilities, and early in her career was employed by the National Audubon Society and the Foundation for Lincoln Public Schools.
Laurie moved to the Lakewood Ranch area two years ago to be closer her to her family, who have lived in the area for many years. She has a teenage son and an adopted greyhound. She enjoys listening to jazz, swimming, hiking, cooking for friends and relaxing on the beach.
